Caught off guard
This evening was open house at the girls' school, Joan Austin. In each room, there were various projects to look at and activities to do. Brynn had a very nice display with pictures, a small timeline of her life with important dates she selected, and a collection of "artifacts" or important things she has had in her life. It was very nice.
Jolee also had some prepared work for us to look at. One booklet titled was All About Me and contains short tidbits and facts about herself. in particular, page #1 threw me for a loop. A scan of that page is to the right.
My little girl misses the great-grandfather she barely knew. I started to tear-up right in the classroom. You see, she's talking about my father's father, my Gramps. He died in 2002 when Jolee was only one year old. I understand part of the reason she thinks about this is our family videos which show him smiling at her, waving, and getting down on the carpet to hold her up to practice walking......
But to read this that she calls her dream means that he is more important to her than I realized. That really choked me up.
Here is a snippet of her great grandpa from a family video. It shows him playing with her, and then when he was put into the hospital, with her playing on his bed. This has always been a very dear video to us:

Precious! That video clip
Precious! That video clip tugged on my heartstrings. I can imagine how glad you are you had your video camera on hand to capture those moments...the wave, the walk, and the hands. Way to go!

I was looking to see if you had any books listed for the girls for Christmas? I just wanted to send something. They are so sweet! I didn't find any books listed as you used to but WHAT A SITE! The video of dad and mom with Jolee made me so happy (even though I cried). I would love to get together and view your videos sometime. I will be coming back to your site again and again to see what you guys are up to. Thank you for everything...everything...everything you have done for our family. And Alan, I will get pictures together for you ASAP. I just got cards sent out yesterday for Christmas. Having a hard time getting going on Christmas this year. Got any book ideas for the girls? Love to you all, Diane
