To Blog or Not to Blog...

Ya know when you want to blog, but then you don't because you think what you said in the previous post deserves a little more "top billing" and perhaps people just haven't read it yet, yes, I'm sure that's why no one has commented on how cool it is that you can listen to a song on our blog (thank you Alan) and it's not often that blog entries come complete with a "soundtrack." And perhaps no one has commented because they are too busy playing on Facebook...Thanks AJ for getting me hooked!  Or perhaps what you've written about only has merit or thought provoking ideas for yourself...

It's really not nice to beg for commentary.  But dang it, Gregg writes about a trip to Les Schwab and it's like a madhouse of comments on his blog.  No, I'm not jealous.  That would be selfish and silly.

I'm a slightly selfish and silly girl.

Things that I would blog about if I wasn't so tired:

How fun it is to be a mommy of four-temporarily :)

How grateful I am for WBF and the amazing women I get to learn from each week.

How much I love laughing with my husband.

Your comment about laughing

Your comment about laughing with Alan in the car the other night TOTALLY tickled me!! Those are my FAVORITE moments with John-the ones where we are laughing SO hard over something SO stupid, and our sides hurt and our cheeks hurt, and our eyes are POURING tears. *sigh* Oh how I love those moments...

Blog!

OK, everyone, I sense some discouragement. Let's all comment and show Michelle that we are out here and that we do care!

You know like a group hug?

As for me, Michelle, I do read your posts and appreciate your insights. I haven't commented very often probably because I don't know you as well as I know Alan. It's like I go by the unspoken rule that "people shouldn't comment on posts of persons that they don't know very well". Silly.

Keep your chin up and keep posting!

Thanks Friend!

Abbie, you're the best friend a blogger ever had.  I love how you comment all the time on people's blogs.  It makes us feel loved and heard.

Mike, I wasn't discouraged...just whiny.  It's one of my "best" traits.  But I will take the complement!  Thanks!

I didn't comment on Gregg's post

I'm too busy updating my Facebook status. Does that make you feel better? :D

Blogging, and commenting, is an interesting world. I find I write something really meaningful or deep and I get back --- nothing. But throw up the same pictures of Abel over and over and over, and folks come out of the woodwork!

If you wanted to be mother of four to my kids, I could comment more often. Heh heh. :D

Hey girl!

Just want you to know that I'm reading ALL THE TIME. In fact, I've been checking back a lot lately thinking...she was on a roll and now she's not posting anything. What's up?

Oh, and to add to what Aj said, I think a lot of the time when you write about something deep, for me, sometimes I like to just sit and marinate on it for a while. I feel like I might have something to say, but then it's almost like any comment I make couldn't possibly hold up to the depth of your post, so why bother. I'll try to let go of that sillyness myself and start replying even when I think my reply might sound dumb.

Needless to say - you are loved and so are your posts Wink

AJ's totally right!

Michelle, I love reading what you write! I noticed a long time ago that when I write something meaningful and deep, I get hardly any comments (but often a lot of hits). Write something stupid and inane or sort of funny and everybody chirps in. I've been paralyzed a few times when blogging became more about the response than my own outlet. I do better when it's just for me.

WOW-Now that's a Group Hug!

Thank you dear friends-near and far.  I really love to write as Gregg says,"just for me"  But there are times when I wonder what ya'all think, and it's good to know that even if we don't always comment on each other's blogs- we are being "heard." I believe people have a strong desire to be known, and this seems obvious by the explosion of sights like MySpace and Facebook-and of course individual blogs. Personally, I have found blogging to be an awesome way to "journal." As I go back over the posts I've written, I'm reminded of the journey that God has me on and of the ways He wants to lead me closer to Himself and others.  It's also a virtual scrapbook of our activities, important moments, and a word snapshot of what family life is like these days.

ditto

Michelle, I've noticed the same thing as above about deep and meaningful vs light and humorous. It's just plain easier to pop off than it is to risk being mistaken on something important in the absence of direct eye contact.

Your husband is such a lucky man. I hope he appreciates you! For that matter, I hope you appreciate him! Blog soundtracks - that's over and above. :)

me 2

I'm fascinated by blog comments and read them faithfully on the blogs I check faithfully. Maybe not AS faithfully as before I discovered Scrabulous.
